Why snowbirds choose Pompano Beach
Pompano Beach sits on the Broward County coast between Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton. In winter it is warm without being hot. According to NOAA climate normals for nearby Fort Lauderdale, average highs run in the mid to upper 70s from December through February, with average lows in the low to mid 60s. It is also the drier half of the year, with average rainfall under 3 inches a month from December through March.
The town itself is the other reason. The beach is wide and easy to walk, the fishing pier is a daily gathering place, and you can reach Fort Lauderdale or Boca Raton in a short drive when you want a change. Most of our long-stay guests settle into a simple rhythm: a morning walk on the sand, errands before lunch, the pool in the afternoon.
When to book
Book early. Winter is the busiest stretch of the year in South Florida, and many snowbirds reserve the same place for the following season before they leave. If you have firm dates for January through March, it is worth reaching out 6 to 10 months ahead. December and April tend to open up a little later, and they are often good months to try a place before committing to a full season.
Before you book, ask the questions that matter for a long stay. What is in the kitchen? Where is laundry? Who do you call if something breaks? Is parking included? Here the answers are simple: suites have a full kitchen, studios have a kitchenette, guest laundry is on site, parking is free with one space per unit, and a real person answers calls, texts and emails. For anything about dates and rates, ask us about longer stays.
Studio or suite for a season
For one person or a couple who mostly cook simple meals, a studio works well. It sleeps 2 to 3 and has a kitchenette. If you want a separate bedroom, a living room for visitors and a full kitchen, choose a suite, which sleeps 4 to 5. Many couples staying a month or more prefer the suite simply for the extra room to spread out on a rainy afternoon.

What to bring from home
You do not need to pack for a move. Linens, towels, beach towels and beach chairs are here. What long-stay guests tell us they were glad they brought:
- Your prescriptions for the full stay, plus copies of the prescriptions themselves
- A light sweater or jacket for the occasional cool evening in January
- Comfortable walking shoes and sandals
- A favorite kitchen knife or coffee setup, if you are particular
- Your insurance cards, and a list of your doctors’ phone numbers
- Reading glasses, chargers and a power strip for the bedside
Our full Pompano Beach packing list covers the rest.
Settling in for weeks, not days
Groceries and errands
You will find supermarkets, pharmacies and everyday shops within a short drive of the building. Most guests do one big shop on arrival day and then pick up fresh food a couple of times a week. Having your own kitchen is what makes a long stay affordable and comfortable.
Laundry
Guest laundry is on site, so you can pack less and wash as you go. Ask us when you arrive and we will show you where it is.
Getting around
The beach is about a 2-minute walk, so you can leave the car parked for most of the day. For groceries, appointments and day trips, most snowbirds either drive down or rent a car. If you fly, read our guide to getting from FLL to Pompano Beach.
Mail and deliveries
If you expect packages or mail during a long stay, tell us before you arrive and we will explain how deliveries work at the building.
Health and appointments
If you take regular medication, ask your pharmacy before you leave how to transfer or refill prescriptions while you are away. Many national pharmacy chains can move a prescription to a local branch. Bring a written list of your medications and doses, and check how your health insurance handles care out of state, especially if you are visiting from Canada.
Your first week
The first few days of a long stay set the tone. Unpack fully on day one rather than living out of the suitcase. Stock the kitchen with staples. Walk to the beach at different times of day to find your favorite hour; sunrise is quiet and cool, and late afternoon is softer light and fewer people. By the end of the first week, most guests have a coffee spot, a grocery routine and a regular stretch of sand.
Things snowbirds love to do here
Winter is the easiest season to be outside. Walk or fish at the pier, catch sunrise over the ocean, take a day trip to Boca Raton or Fort Lauderdale, or book a round of golf. Our things to do in Pompano Beach section has ideas for every kind of day, including the slow ones.
A quiet building on purpose
We are a small building, not a resort. Families and long-stay guests come here for calm, and the courtyard stays that way. Check-in is 4 PM and check-out is 10 AM, there is a 2-night minimum, and we do not allow pets (service animals are welcome as required by law). The full list is on our house rules page.
When you have your dates in mind, see our snowbird rentals, compare with the best time to visit, and check availability.
